Pet Portrait

Nowadays, our household pets occupy an important place in our lives, which is absolutely great!

 

They live with us in our homes, share our joys and sorrows, and they lavish us with their unconditional love.

They have become family members in their own rights, so we love to have beautiful mementoes that we can add to the family album or that we can hang among other portraits of our dear son, grandmother or Uncle Arthur.

This includes:

  • The first hour to 1½ hour of shooting (depending on the pet’s patience);
  • Basic adjustments (colour, contrast, luminosity, white balance, sharpening, etc.);
  • Initial sorting made by the photographer.
  • A private web photo gallery containing a minimum of 15 images, presented with a logo, in a compressed file format and optimized for web display. Two monochrome versions of each shot will also be available, for a total of 45 images (3 x 15), black and white as well as sepia, or any other treatment chosen by the photographer. The gallery will be available for viewing and downloading photos during a period of two (2) months.
  • A free 8 x12 (or 8 x 10 or 8 x 8), with one 5×7 and two 4 x 6. Complete your package using the information from the table in the Rates tab.
  • Get an extra 8 x 10 for free for each pet adopted from a shelter (proof required).

This includes:

  • 1½ hour to 2 hours of shooting (depending on the pets’ patience);
  • Basic adjustments (colour, contrast, luminosity, white balance, sharpening, etc.);
  • Initial sorting made by the photographer.
  • A private web gallery containing a minimum of 25 photos, presented with a logo, in a compressed file format and optimized for web display (particularly for Facebook). Two monochrome versions of each shot will also be available, for a total of 75 images (3 x 25),black and white as well as sepia, or any other treatment chosen by the photographer. The gallery will be available for viewing and downloading photos during a period of two (2) months.
  • Two free 8 x 12 (or 8 x 10 or 8 x 8), two 5 x 7 and four 4 x 6. Complete your package using the information from the table in the Rates tab.
  • Get an extra 8 x 10 (or 8 x 12) for free for each pet adopted from a shelter (proof required).
  • Additional subjects: 50 $ extra per additional pet (figure a half hour more of shooting per additional subject, meaning about 7 to 10 extra photos per subject).

This includes:

  • Pet photography at a great price;
  • 30 to 45 minutes of shooting, either on location as lifestyle photography in natural light. No studio lighting available for this package;
  • Basic adjustments (colour, contrast, luminosity, white balance, sharpening, etc.);
  • Initial sorting made by the photographer.
  • A private web gallery containing a minimum of 6 photos, presented with a logo, in a compressed file format and optimized for web display (particularly for Facebook). The gallery will be available for viewing and downloading photos during a period of two (2) months.
  • One free 8 x 12 (or 8 x 10 or 8 x 8) and two 4 x 6. Complete your package using the information from the table in the Rates tab.
  • Get an extra 8 x 10 (or 8 x 12) for free for each pet adopted from a shelter (proof required).
  • One single pet per shooting.

Get your favourite photos from the shooting on a CD in both colour and monochrome versions. You will receive a black and white version, as well as a sepia or any other treatment chosen by the photographer.
CD with 10 photos in web format

How will the photoshoot be carried out?

If I set my studio up in your home, I will let the pets walk around and explore the setup and equipement, in order to familiarize themselves with the material as well as with myself and my assistant (in some cases). Then I take a few minutes to interact with your pets and reassure them. Sometimes it is easier to get good results if the pet owner handles the animals and gets them to sit, lie down, stay, etc. The pet owner gets to distribute the treats, which some people often prefer to do themselves, so that their pet doesn’t accept any food from strangers. I use little bits of dried liver, but you can bring your own treats, if you wish. For a lifestyle or outdoors shooting, your pet will have some time to get used to my assistant and me while I do some light tests and scout the area a little bit. Bringing his own toys could also help in some cases.

My pet is very shy. Will you still be able to take good photos?

Of course! When an animal is afraid or shy, we take our time to make him feel comfortable and more secure. No matter if it takes a ½ hour more before we start shooting! We won’t charge you for the extra time in such cases; no animal will be bullied into a pose! Patience is one of our main assets!

Do you photograph only cats and dogs?

Not at all! I will photograph any house pets and even horses (not in the house, though…)!

Where is your studio located?

At my place in Candiac, in your living room, your backyard, out of doors, in a park, at the stable… In short, anywhere you want, as long as the location is suitable for it.

I would like a photoshoot at home, but I don’t think my decor is suitable.

No problem! I will set up my mobile studio in your house, complete with lighting equipment, backdrop and accessories.

What is a lifestyle photoshoot?

It’s a type of photography made in a more natural setup, where the subjects are interacting with other subjects and/or their environment. Photos are usually made in ambiant light, if sufficient, or outside. Sometimes, the use of a little burst of flash as a fill-in light is helpful to control unwanted shadows, even in lifestyle photography.

Can the session be held in our backyard or in a park?

In your backyard, for sure! Shooting elsewhere will depend on your pet’s recall skills and if we can unleash your pet in said location. Unless you don’t mind having a leash in the pictures…

Can I be in the pictures with my pet(s)?

You certainly can! It will make wonderful souvenirs and memories for you and your family!

How can I access my private web gallery?

Highlight the password you have been given, right-click and copy it to your clipboard.
Go to the proof galleries home page, using the following link: http://www.brunetphoto.ca/galerie_client/
Locate your gallery thumbnail and click. Double-click on the row of a dozen little stars to select them and right-click to paste your password. The number of stars should decrease to approximately 7 or 8. Hit the Enter key and you should now be in your gallery.

Why do the photos printed from my CD look different from what I see on my monitor?

Because, as explained in the Options tab of your selected package, the quality of prints may vary from one lab to another. The photographer cannot be held responsible for differences in colour, contrast or luminosity of any photo that the customer chooses to have printed from the CD.

Can I scan a print that I purchased from you in order to make an enlargement?

Definitely not. You have purchased a print, that’s all. There is no copyright or rights to print included in the price of a simple print. You cannot have it scanned by another photographer or printing lab either in order to make an enlargement. You need to purchase a CD to benefit from printing rights.

Can I share my proofs web gallery with my friends and family?

Certainly, as long as the copyrights are respected by all.

Can use pictures from my proofs gallery in my Facebook profile?

Yes, you may! You can download all the pictures you want using the link Download Photo in the menu at the bottom of your gallery. However, please note that it is forbidden to modify any image or crop it in a way to remove the logo. All photos are resized and compressed for web use and will produce awful results if printed, which is not allowed anyway.

I know the photographer very well. Do I still have to pay a reservation deposit?

Absolutely, yes! Sadly, all people who have cancelled their appointment at the last minute or who have changed their minds without letting me know were people who knew me very well…
