The generous curves of an expectant mother’s silhouette is always a beautiful sight. Almost as moving as the sweet face of newborn baby, spleeping peacefully.
Maternity is undoubtedly the most touching and marking event in a woman’s life. To give oneself heart and soul takes a whole new meaning when creating a new life.
Why not capture in images all the beauty of those magical moments which are so important and create wonderful lasting memories?
You can plan a maternity photoshoot a few weeks before your due date or wait for the baby’s birth to make a reservation, preferably between 5 to 14 days old.
Better yet, choose a combination of both in a single package! Maternity in two steps, before and after Baby’s birth!
Click on the Babies and B & B tabs for more details.

Please note that the rates and services for a maternity session are exactly the same as for an individual portrait. Click on the Only Me tab for more details.

- It is best to photograph newborn babies between 5 and 14 days of age. They are still highly flexible, sleep a lot and and their skin has not been hit by newborn acne yet.
- A newborn photoshoot takes around three hours. This allows the new mother to take a few breaks, to calm a fidgeting baby without feeling pressed by the clock. It also provides some time for feeding and diaper changes, as well as a few moments for the little one to get back to sleep between various poses.
- I do prefer to photograph babies in natural light and everyone will feel more at ease if the shooting is held in your home. You will have everything close by to repair any accident, including spare outfits for parents who often get wet by their little angel… Whatsmore, many parents wish to have some pictures of their baby in her own room or living environment. Insufficient light is never a problem, because I always carry some lighting equipment with me, just in case…
- Baby is usually au naturel or only partially clothed during the photoshoot, so the ambiant temperature needs to be comfortable enough to prevent your little angel’s skin from getting all marbled or blotchy with cold. Be cautious though, too much warmth is just as bad, it will make your baby cranky!
- Sometimes parents like to have a few skin against skin pictures with their baby. The effect is very natural and may bring additional emotion to the images. However, this is a very personal choice, and the decision remains entirely up to the parents. I would never impose anything you wouldn’t feel 100% comfortable with!
- Some mothers want to have a souvenir of themselves nursing their baby in a relaxed manner and semi-nudity. Should this be the case, I suggest that you wear a bathrobe and remove your bra at least one hour before the shooting to prevent disgraceful marks on your skin left by straps, elastics or seams.
- For any parent-with-baby picture, fingernails should get extra attention. They must be clean and well groomed, preferably with clear or neutral polish, if any. It might be a good thing to keep at hand everything you need for a quick hair touch-up.
- If you want a concept photo with the feet of all family members, please make sure that all of them (the feet, of course!) are clean and well groomed, and that there are no sock marks on the ankles.
- It always makes better photos when new mothers and grandmothers wear light make-up instead of a glamour or fashion look. Please make sure that your eyebrows are freshly plucked, taking care of removing any hair between the eyebrows. They might not be so apparent in person, but they will unfortunately stand out quite a bit in a photo.
- It is a great idea to have sibblings participate in a few shots. If this is the case, then it’s important to make sure that they are not wearing bushy hairstyles or any leftover from their last meal on their face or clothing (Yep, you would be surprised at how often this can happen!). Oh, and don’t forget to blow those little noses carefully!
- Needless to say that the same guidelines apply to the family pet(s). Hairy messes are not pretty in baby pictures!
- I will provide a number of accessories (knitted nests, cocoons and cute little hats) but you can also prepare anything you might want to use as well like a special teddy bear, hat, basket, little booties, garment, blanket, etc.
